Day 77:
It's less than two months till Christmas. Hooray! Time to start planning. If your kids are coming home for Christmas, or you are going to visit them for Christmas, that's WONDERFUL! If not...well...that's okay. You can call or Skype them on Christmas Day. You can send them a card. You can send them
presents. We fill stockings and mail them to our son and his wife (already married for eight years) to keep the family tradition going. We love doing this. The kids seem to love getting them. Either that or they are pretending to love them just to make us happy. We're happy either way.
If the kids are not coming home then pamper yourself! Empty Nesters can have a Merry Christmas too! Give yourself the kind of Christmas YOU would like best! You could invite a friend over for Christmas dinner. Or an acquaintance who has nowhere to go for Christmas. Maybe you would enjoy working at a soup kitchen and bringing some Christmas cheer to those who REALLY need it And you can do other things to make you happy throughout the season. Buy yourself a chocolate advent calendar and open the doors every day. Put what YOU want on the Christmas tree. Photos? Cats? Dogs? A colour scheme? Maybe you have more time now and you can bake ALL the Christmas cookies and freeze them. You can watch ALL the Christmas movies on TV. You can listen to all your favourite Christmas music and sing and dance along You can do WHATEVER brings you joy at Christmas! Now go get started! No mad rushing though. ENJOY it all as you go. If there's something about Christmas that you don't like, DON'T DO IT!!!
